Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the World Languages and Global Studies and Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine Magnet Schools at Venice High School. This includes helping the teachers and staff provide field trips, incentives, and hospitality as well as the larger goal of fundraising to protect the magnet coordinator position, class size, and staffing, and to supplement classroom equipment and supplies.
Friends of Venice Magnet is governed by a board of directors that is charged with working with the Venice High School Administration to act in the best interests of the students enrolled in the Venice High School WLGS and STEMM Magnets. Since the 2014-15 school year, the FOVM Board of Directors has been comprised of an equal number of WLGS and STEMM stakeholders, working in concert to the benefit of both programs.
Board members for the 2015-16 school year are: David Kent, Mary Smith, Lois Saucedo, Jim Barrie, Sherry Godfrey, Craig Jaffe, Brenda Robinson, Sarah Auerswald, Nancy Steiner, and Gloria Halfacre.
Friends of Venice Magnet is a program of The Gondolier Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation. The organization is run by alumni, parents, and community members, and works closely with the administration of Venice High School. The mission of the Gondolier Booster Club is to support the fund raising efforts of on campus clubs and sports teams to maintain their academic, athletic and extra-curricular programs.
